As it might be related to sound I probably should have explained that I have
to use ALSA because that is where my soundcard (Fortemedia FM801) is supported.

I also find it kind off odd that the framerate drops from 25-30fps to 20fps
sometimes even down to 12-13fps with sound on. I thought the sound decoding
was comparatively cheap and wouldn't cost a 15-50% framerate drop?
